Grill House Lofoten

Built entirely from repurposed CLT panels

At Trevarefabrikken in Lofoten, we were invited to rethink the life cycle of a set of sleeping pods. Instead of discarding them, we carefully dismantled and repurposed the structures, giving the cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels a second life.

The result is a small bar and grill house built entirely from reused CLT. Circularity was at the heart of the project, and every design choice reflects a commitment to material reuse and low-impact construction.

The building has a simple, elegant form where large CLT plates define the façade. Select surfaces are painted in a bold pink, creating a striking contrast against the natural timber and underscoring the playful, social character of the new venue.

This project is a showcase of how thoughtful design and circular principles can transform leftover materials into vibrant new spaces.
